Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
Staff, faculty, visitors and students may have questions regarding the indoor air quality or indoor environmental quality (IAQ/IEQ) in the buildings at the University of British Columbia Vancouver campus.
IAQ deals with the content of interior air that could affect the health and comfort of building occupants. The IAQ may be compromised by microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), chemicals (such as carbon monoxide, radon), allergens, or any particulate or environmental stressor that can induce health effects.
To ensure the indoor air quality is safe and optimal, UBC takes a preventative, risk-management approach that includes:
- Collecting information
- Educating staff
- Providing effective risk communication
- Investigating facilities
