Laboratory Plastic Recycling Program

The Laboratory Plastic Recycling Program offers a simple solution to recycling in the lab.

How to recycle your plastics in three easy steps:

  1. Identify what plastics can be recycled (check out our guidelines below)
  2. Empty, clean and dry the containers
  3. Place the plastic in a Lab Plastic Collection Bin

Program Guidelines

Accepted

All plastic containers that:

  • previously contained non-hazardous materials
  • are empty, clean and dry
  • have plastic code #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7

Not Accepted

  • Plastic #6
  • Pipette and pippette tips
  • Empty vessels or plastic materials previously containing or contaminated with hazardous materials. Ie. any toxic corrosive, flammable,  reactive, radioactive, oxidizer substance, or Biohazard Risk Group 1 or 2 (excluding recombinant DNA)
