Emergency Response Teams

UBC offers training for staff members to become Emergency Response Team members. These ERTs receive instruction in Occupational First Aid Level 1, ACT20 (Rapid Building Damage Assessment) and Light Urban Search and Rescue.

Each team member is assigned appropriate kits containing safety gear. Time commitment is 2 1/2 days initial training, quarterly meetings of approximately 2 hours, and taking part in an exercise annually.

Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Training

We offer an internal UBC training workshop based on the BCERMS model and the BC Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) "all hazards" approach.

Information on how the EOC process works, the use of Incident Command System and EOC position job descriptions are explained.

This workshop is a pre-requisite for membership on the EOC and should be taken as a refresher course every 3 - 4 years for existing EOC members.
