Risk Management at UBC is about identifying, assessing, and managing all types of risk (strategic, academic, operational, financial, hazard and reputational) in all parts of the organization (faculty, research, students, and administration) on both UBC campuses.

The process of implementing a Risk Management framework and culture at UBC through the development and maintenance of Risk Registers and related reporting is progressing favourably. Bringing together the former Office of Enterprise Risk Management, Department of Health, Safety and Environment and Office of Risk and Insurance into the new Department of Risk Management Services (RMS), reporting to the newly-created position of Chief Risk Officer, is an incremental step in this process. Additionally, RMS has a close and collaborative working relationship with the Department of Health, Safety and Environment at UBC Okanagan.
